7 Things You Can Give Up To Be Successful

Your successful friends think differently, speak differently, and work smarter. Success is easier than you think it is, but you’ve got to model and learn from the right people. Your peer group matters, as do the resources and tools you use for your business and the accountability you have to support your efforts.

You are creative, capable, wise and good. What you think is possible is just the beginning.

Here are 7 things you can give up to support your success:

1. Give up on believing you can’t change the world.

All of us have the power to do something incredible. Successful people believe that it’s not where you are born, how much education you have, or how much money you start out with; success is about believing you can change the world. Successful people let the belief in themselves guide their vision for a better world.

2. Give up on time wasting.

We all have the same amount of time each and every single day. What we do with that time is entirely up to us.

We usually find ourselves saying, “I do not have enough time for ____ because ____.”

Fill in the first blank with something on your goal or bucket list, such as “work out more,” “call friends,” “paint,” or “join a team.”

Fill in the second blank with your favourite excuse, such as “My kids need me,” “I work too much,” “I volunteer every week,” or “I don’t know how.”

We are so good at coming up with excuses not to do things and completely forget how easy being active and working toward our goals truly is.

Therefore, our problems have nothing to do with how much time is in the day – our problems have to do with our priorities. Becoming good at being the most productive person you can be should be a top priority if you want to reach a new level of success.

3. Give up on luck.

“Luck is a matter of preparation meeting opportunity” – Oprah Winfrey

Get out there and make it happen. Go for it. Stop waiting for the right time because it’s never the right time to do anything. You’re in charge of your success. Each day we have a choice to make and we can choose to make it a great and productive day.

4. Give up selfishness.

Giving back is a way to lead a meaningful life, one is which we can be proud of the positive impact we have had. Our souls’ desire is to lead fulfilling lives that have meaning. Give out of curiosity and compassion.

“If you light a lamp for someone else it will also brighten your path.” ~Buddha

5. Give up on not believing in people.

Successful people believe in the Art of Possibility. In giving others an A. In order to move forward, we need to trust that those around us have strengths that are different from our own and in order to leverage them, we need to work with them. It is easy to see imperfections, be the one who searches for the gold in others and see what happens.

6. Give up on negative thoughts.

Successful people have discipline when it comes to their minds. It’s the center of their universe, and they know that all success starts in this one place. They train their mind every single day to avoid the default response of the brain that tells us negative things.

Be an observer of your thoughts, and choose to focus on the positive thoughts that come into your consciousness. As an advocate for the Science of Well-Being, I believe that we all have a choice and that there are practices that can assist you to train your brain to look for the good in all situations. I look forward to sharing many of these practices in detail inside the Think Tank with the 10 elite members.

7. Give up on other people’s opinions.

Successful people know that they are creative, capable, wise and good. That their reputation would stand with or without them in the room. They have confidence and it shines through. What other people think of them is not their business. That’s why they’re not afraid to try and fail. This is where belief in yourself and bold moves meet.
