Your brain is constantly building neural pathways based on repetition.
The more you repeat something the stronger those pathways become.
Let me ask you something…. What would your life look like if you had joyful confidence?
If fear didn’t hold you back and doubt did not creep up into your thoughts and stop you from taking action. Imagine speaking with certainty, taking up space and moving with purpose. That kind of confidence is not reserved for the few. It is not something you are born with, it is something you build.
Confidence is built. Not born.
Is it a skill. And, just like any skill it can be developed, practiced and mastered.
Confidence comes from persistence, tenacity and repetition. A relentless commitment to growth. It is built through action, not theory. Look at your own life. If you do not feel confident in a certain area, it is not because you are incapable. It is simply that you have not built that muscle, yet!
Confidence comes from proof. You need to give yourself evidence that you can do something, by doing it over and over. In order to become a master, we have to first be willing to be a beginner. It needs to become second nature. That is how leaders command a room, how athletes become champions and how speakers own the stage. Here’s the catch, most people procrastinate on what they want to go after and make excuses as to the reasons why now is not the right time to pursue it. Whatever that IT is for them. We cannot start when we are “ready”, that is backwards. Confidence does not come first, action does.
You take the leap and confidence follows.
How do we build it?
You start with small consistent wins and you stack them. If you have ever been to the gym, you did not walk in on your first day and go right to the highest weights on the rack. You start by showing up. Lifting light, again and again. Overtime what once seemed too far out of your reach, becomes possible. The same applies to so many areas of our lives. The first time is awkward, the second time is ok, the 7th and 10th times become better. After the 100th rep, you own it. You know you can do it. Your mind will play tricks on you when you step into something new. Ignore the noise and take steps. Fear is nothing more than uncertainty.
F- False
E- Evidence
A- Appearing
R- Real
The way to squash uncertainty is through action. When you take action, you create experience. Experience turns into certainty and certainty is confidence.
Your mind will absorb whatever you expose to it most. Make sure it is strength, power and positive affirmations. Speak with conviction, stand tall, catch yourself and call plot twist when doubt tries to creep in. Replace it, remind yourself of your signature strengths. How often do you review your wins? This is mental conditioning. The more you do it, the stronger you get, the more joy jolts you will have. Stack small wins daily. Confidence is momentum. The more you prove to yourself YOU CAN, the stronger you become. But most people do not build momentum, because they focus on what they can’t do. I invite you to dream boldly and step into possibility.
Do not focus on the gap, focus on the goal.
Where do you want to be? What do you want to be doing?
Do not freeze. Inertia, or lack of movement is a decision.
You have daily wins and it does not matter how small they are, victories add up. You are creating proof that you can take action, that you can follow through and that you can improve. Once you have momentum, confidence becomes inevitable. Most people underestimate the power of small wins. Most people do not lack confidence, they lack proof that they are capable. So, keep track of all the times you were able.
Confidence does not come from waiting, thinking or hoping. It comes from doing. Are you ready to take action?
What you think is possible is just the beginning!
